Meet Coach Hope
Hope Segun, the club Founder and Director, was a student-athlete in university and played semi-pro basketball. He has been coaching youth across the United States, Vancouver, BC and Toronto, is a certified Learn to Train coach and trained in Train to Train certification. He’s a life-long student of the game and loves seeing players develop and grow to maximize their potential. Hope has run many camps and clinics and his passion for basketball radiates throughout the gym. Anywhere he goes, he creates a positive environment for fun learning while helping each player improve.
Apart from coaching basketball, for more than a decade, Hope ran a non-profit organization that made a difference in the community through youth mentoring, literacy and sports. He has a DEEP passion for highlighting inspiring stories. He started his award-winning local television program where he and his crew produced his interviews with legendary coaches, Olympians, poets, a Grammy nominee and many trailblazers from around the world. By sharing these stories, he brings to life positive encouragement in our communities as a whole.
"It's the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen."
-Coach John Wooden
Hope had the privilege to meet legendary Coach John Wooden at a basketball camp one summer. After a brief discussion together, Coach Wooden called Hope back and gave him some of his inspirational books including his Pyramid of Success. This has been a great tool for Hope as a coach and this quote above is very inspirational to him and how he approaches coaching on a daily basis.

Coach Hope met former National Basketball Association (NBA) Coach Paul Silas after practice where he was invited to speak to Hope’s semi-pro team. It was great to hear Coach Silas’ coaching philosophy and experience coaching some of the best players in the game at the highest level. His words of advice and rapport will stay with Coach Hope forever.
